Pizy

May 01, 2015

This is a 2014 award winning cheese having taken first prize in the Prix de l’Ecole de laiterie. It is made by Fromagerie La Suisse Normande in Quebec. Pizy has a smooth melt-in-your- mouth creamy white paste. Flavours are ‘lactic’ or milky, with notes of salted butter and a hint of mushroom. It is a cheese that can fall quite easily into the ‘must have’ list for those who like a milder soft cheese. If you are a fan of the famous Italian Robiola d’Alba, you will certainly be smitten by Pizy.

When it comes to entertaining, this lovely cheese is just 200g so taking a whole round to stand as a centre piece on your board or cheese plate is both practical and outstanding. Try for breakfast (as in omelet or on top of a poached egg), or for lunch with a splash of oil and surrounded by a tomato basil salad. Pair with an aromatic white or even a sparkling rose to complement the delicate flavours. A dry red will be perfect when Pizy teams up with tomatoes and herbs.
